Romelu Lukaku to reject Saudi interest

Romelu Lukaku has decided to turn down an approach from The Saudi Pro League in favour of remaining in Europe.

Lukaku had been subject of a lucrative offer to move to Saudi Arabia as the nation looks to invest in big-name stars and grow the domestic league.

The Belgium international’s future is uncertain after spending last season on loan at Inter Milan from Chelsea, but Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the forward is keen to remain in Europe despite an ‘important proposal’ from the Middle East.

Lukaku will return to Chelsea this summer where a decision will be made on his future, having failed to make an impact after a then-club record £97.5m move to Stamford Bridge in 2021.

He was allowed to leave on loan last summer and re-joined former club Inter, where he had scored 64 goals across two seasons before his move to Chelsea.

Lukaku scored 14 goals in all competitions as Inter reached the Champions League final last season and is understood to be keen on remaining with the Italians next season.

Simeone Inzaghi’s side are yet to reach an agreement with Chelsea over a potential extension however, despite talks between the two clubs. Chelsea are understood to be interested in signing goalkeeper Andre Onana from the Serie A side and an exchange deal has been mooted.
