Roma are ready to renew interest in Chelsea winger Jamie Gittens ahead of the January transfer window.
Gittens has struggled to make an impact since his £48.5m move to Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund in 2025 and started just five Premier League games last season. He’s not featured in the Premier League since the arrival of Xabi Alonso as manager in the summer, with his only 2026/27 minutes arriving in the League Cup. He’s currently sidelined with an ankle issue.
Roma expressed interest in signing Gittens last summer and are readying a fresh approach. Gian Piero Gasperini wants to add a winger to his squad as Roma look to challenge for the Serie A title.
Gittens is one of several options on Roma’s radar, according to Italian outlet Gazzetta. Alongside the 22-year-old, the Italians are exploring deals for Real Madrid’s Endrick, Stuttgart’s Jamie Leweling and Frosinone’s Giogi Kvernadze.
Gasperini wants to add depth to his squad after Roma have suffered from a series of second-half drop-offs so far this season, with increased energy and pace required for his game-plan.
Roma had success last season after raiding the Premier League to sign Donyell Malen on an initial loan deal. The Dutchman scored 14 goals in just 18 league games after arriving from Aston Villa in January to fire Roma into the Champions League.
