There have been big developments in Leicester City’s search for a new manager this morning, as Celtic have announced they have given the East Midlands club permission to speak to Brendan Rodgers.
Claude Puel was relieved of his duties at the King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon, less than 24 hours after Leicester’s humiliating 4-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.
Within moments of his departure, Brendan Rodgers was installed as the bookmakers favourite to replace the Frenchman, although it had been reported that the Foxes could appoint an interim manager until the end of the season, before making a more permanent appointment in the summer.
However, Celtic have today announced that they have given their Northern Irish manager permission to talk to the Leicester City hierarchy after he told the Scottish champions he wanted to discuss the opportunity with the Foxes.
“Celtic today confirmed that it has been approached by Leicester to speak to Brendan Rodgers with regards to their current managerial vacancy,” a statement on the Celtic website reads.
“Brendan has indicated to the club that this is an opportunity he wishes to investigate further and therefore, very reluctantly, the club has granted him permission to speak to Leicester.”

Rodgers already has plenty of managerial experience in the Premier League, having previously managed Swansea City and Liverpool, taking the Anfield outfit to within a whisker of finally winning the title back in 2013/14.
