Andy Robertson said Liverpool are much stronger in defence compared to last season following the Red’s 2-0 win over Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool have racked up seven clean sheets in twelve Premier League matches this season, having conceded just five league goals, the same number as title-rivals Manchester City.

The Scot, who set up the second goal, was keen to point out the team’s transformation from a soft defensive unit into the sturdy back-line they are now.

“We scored a lot of goals last season but this season we have been solid at the back as well,’’ the left-back told BT Sport.

Goals from Mohamed Salah and substitute Xherdan Shaqiri briefly lifted Liverpool into first-place, before Man City later reclaimed top-spot with victory over Man United in the local derby.

“It was a difficult first half but in the second half I thought we controlled it,” Robertson added.
