Rice delighted with Arsenal ‘domination’ of Bournemouth

Declan Rice called Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth ‘domination’ as the Gunners extended their lead at the top of the Premier League.

Arsenal increased the pressure on Manchester City in the title race with a comfortable win over the Cherries in North London.

Bukayo Saka opened the scoring just before half-time from the penalty spot as the winger became the first Englishman to score 20 goals in a season for Arsenal since 2013.

Rice teed up Leandro Trossard for the second after winning back possession, before rounding off the win with a goal of his own in stoppage time.

The club-record signing has been instrumental to Arsenal’s title challenge and took his total to seven goals and eight assists in the Premier League this season.

Arsenal move four points clear of City, though the defending champions have two games in hand, ahead of their clash with Wolves this evening.

“I think you see it in the first half, it was domination. We could have been up four or five,” Rice said to TNT Sports.

“I knew there was an opportunity for me to score, assist and even for my goal there I sensed it. Goal, assist and three points, just what we needed.

“I do like assisting. It just feels great. It was a big result. They have been some form and are a top team and we knew today it was business and we had to handle it.

“You looked back at the Villa game the other week when we had a few in the first half. We could have done with the second half being less like a basketball match. It now leads into the game next week and we are ready for it.

“I wasn’t here last year but I can sense that we are embracing it,” he continued when discussing the title race.

“Man City are a machine and they don’t lose many. Anything can happen in football. Surprises can happen and miracles can happen and we just have to stay focused.”
