Manchester United face Liverpool today in one of the English football’s most highly anticipated fixtures of the season.
Red Devils attacker Anthony Martial will of course have fond memories of these fixtures. The 22-year-old made his debut for United against Liverpool in 2015, coming off the bench to net a famous solo goal that announced his talent to Premier League audiences world wide.
However, a report in The Times has now revealed that the next time Martial scores a goal in the Premier League, it will cost United a whopping £9 million.
The France international moved to Old Trafford from French side Monaco in September 2015 for £36 million, although as it was reported at the time, the deal agreed between the club’s had several clauses that mean the total fee could end up being £58m.
One of those clauses stipulates that once Martial scores his 25th Premier League goal for United, Monaco will be due a payment of £9m. The talented attacker currently has 24 EPL goals for United.
Another add on requires a further payment if the talented attacker ever goes on to win the Balon d’Or.
Martial missed his sides last game against Crystal Palace, and it is still not clear if he will feature tomorrow against Liverpool, but if he does and he finds the net, it is going to cost the Old Trafford club a pretty penny.
