Revealed: Why Martial is out of favour at Man United

Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial recently rejected the offer of a new contract from his club with rumours suggesting the 22-year-old is unhappy at Old Trafford and wants to leave the club.

The France international has found game time hard to come by under Jose Mourinho lately, and has slipped down the pecking order behind January signing Alexis Sanchez and fellow youngster Marcus Rashford.

According to a report in the Times one of the main reasons why the talented attacker is out of favour at the moment is due to his lack of application in training.

Mourinho expects his players to train at their highest intensity and he is allegedly concerned by Martial’s attitude and demeanour during practice sessions. This issue was also said to be why the Portuguese coach pursued Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic during the summer transfer window, and why he was so keen to beat Man City to the signing of Alexis Sanchez in January.

Martial has only started 21 games for United this season, although he has still managed to post respectable figures of 11 goals and 7 assists.

The 22-year-old has reportedly asked for assurances about playing time before committing to sign the new five year deal he has been offered at Old Trafford.

Martial is a popular figure amongst United fans and has shown plenty of flashes of his world class potential since his big money move from French side Monaco in 2015.

Several of Europes biggest club’s like Atletico Madrid, PSG and Juventus are all said to be monitoring his situation at Old Trafford closely.
