In recent weeks the race for the Premier League’s Golden Boot has been hotting up. The battle to be crowned the top scorer of the 2017/2018 season seems to have turned into a three horse race between Spurs Harry Kane (24 goals), Liverpool’s Mo Salah (23 goals), and Man City’s Sergio Aguero (21 goals).
However, this got us thinking who exactly has the best goals to minutes ratio in the Premier League ?
So here’s the top five goal scorers in the Premier League …
5. Eden Hazard – 11 goals – 153 minutes per goal.
Chelsea have had a strange season so far both on and off the pitch, although the form of their mercurial playmaker Eden Hazard has been a massive positive for Blues fans.
The Belgium international continues to light up the Premier League with his dazzling dribbling ability and if he continues playing as he is at the moment, he could be on the way to breaking his personal record of 16 goals in a Premier League season.
4. Raheem Sterling – 15 goals – 128 minutes per goal.
Sterling has been one of the key players in Man City’s superb side, that look all but certain to win the Premier League title this season. The 23-year-old has transformed himself into one of English football’s deadliest attackers this season under the stewardship of Pep Guardiola.
Sterling has smashed his own personal records in terms of goals and assists already this campaign, although it is not just the amount of goals he has scored, but the fact that he has found the net in so many big games that is so impressive.
3. Harry Kane – 24 goals – 96 minutes per goal
What is there left to say about Spurs fans Lord and Saviour Harry Kane. The 24-year-old goal scoring machine is breaking records left right and centre this season, which has quite rightly seen him start to be mentioned in the same breath as world-class strikers like Luis Saurez and Robert Lewandowski.
Kane is undoubtedly Spurs talisman and is key to his sides chances of success both domestically and in Europe this season. he recently scored his 100th Premier League goal, and has a genuine chance of breaking Alan Shearer’s record of 260 Premier League goals if he stays clear of serious injury.
2. Mohamed Salah – 23 goals – 92 minutes per goal
Salah has exceeded the expectations of even the most optimistic of Liverpool fans with his sensational displays so far this season.
Signed from Roma for £35 million in the summer the lighting quick Egyptian international has impressed with his slick dribbling and lethal finishing ability.
1. Sergio Aguero – 21 goals – 84 minutes per goal
It’s an absolute travesty that this man has never been nominated for PFA Player of the year or onto the PFA team of the year. Aguero is undoubtedly one of the deadliest finishers the Premier League has ever seen.
He doesn’t seem to bothered by these ridiculous snubs by his colleagues, as he just keeps banging in the goals at a faster rate than any other attacker in the country.
Maybe we’ll appreciate he him more when he’s gone …
