Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s Manchester United career looks doomed with ESPN reporting that the real reason he has been dropped by Jose Mourinho is due to a bust up the pair had during a video analysis session at the club’s Carrington training complex.
Player and manager are said to have locked horns after Mourinho laid into the Armenian playmaker for his lack of defensive work-rate during his substitute appearance against Brighton.
United fans had high hopes when the club forked out £25 million to sign the talented attacker from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2016. The 28-year-old had been billed as one of Europe’s top attacking midfielders, and after struggling to adapt to the Premier League last season many felt he would push on during this campaign and become a key player for the Reds.
Mkhitaryan started this season like a house on fire with five assists in his first four games, but his form has nosedived badly since and after his falling out with Mourinho his days at Old Trafford look numbered.
Reports today even suggest he could be offloaded as soon as January, when he will be used as a makeweight in a potential deal for Mesut Ozil.
