Manchester United have agreed an £80million deal to secure their first signing of the summer according to reports.
The Red Devils have already confirmed their place in next season’s Champion League group stages, and are close to securing their highest finish since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2013.
With this season almost over, and Jose Mourinho already admitting he will sign at least one new midfielder this summer, plans have already started in earnest for this summer’s transfer plans.
Now, according to The Sun, United have agreed an £80 million deal with Lazio to sign Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
The deal would see the 23-year-old become the second most expensive Premier League player of all time, behind only Paul Pogba who returned to the Premier League in 2016 for a then World Record fee of £89m.
The report claims that while United were initially reluctant to pay Lazio’s asking price for the midfielder, they have accepted that they must pay ‘top dollar’ to land their prime transfer target.
It is claimed that Jose Mourinho has used his relationship with Sergej’s agent, former Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman, to secure the deal.
