Marouane Fellaini will not sign a contract extension at Manchester United according to reports in Italy.
The Belgian has just over one month remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford, and has been stalling on a new one for several months, despite Jose Mourinho being desperate to keep hold of him.
Mourinho recently claimed that Fellaini was close to agreeing a new deal, only for the midfielder to publicly deny his managers claims just days later.
He has been linked with moves to a number of clubs in recent months including Besiktas, PSG, Juventus and Arsenal. However the most recent reports suggest that his next destination could be AC Milan.
It has been claimed that the Rossonieri have offered Fellaini a three year deal, while United have only offered a one year contract with the option of a further year.
Intriguingly, speaking after Milan’s final day victory over Fiorentina, Milan Sporting Director Massimiliano Mirabelli hinted on Sky Sports Italia that Fellaini would be moving to the San Siro:
“Fellaini? He could be an important player. In fact, he is an important player.
“We know that he is not renewing his contract with Manchester United, but it is difficult to say if we have closed it. He has important parameters. We will do something in that role, but with maximum discretion.
“We will close a deal first before we announce a player.”
Fellaini has made 155 appearances for United since his £27.5 million move from Everton back in 2013, scoring 20 goals.
