Report: Yerry Mina emerges as Manchester United’s main transfer target

Barcelona centre-back Yerry Mina has emerged as Manchester United’s main defensive transfer target.

United manager Jose Mourinho is eager to strengthen his defensive options before the Premier League transfer window closes on August 9.

Leicester City and England centre half Harry Maguire was reported to be the Red Devils main target, but the Foxes have made it clear that the 25-year-old is not for sale, and according to Sky Sports News, the 25-year-old is now set to sign a new and improved deal at the King Power.

Jose Mourinho now looks set to turn his attention to Colombia international Mina, who impressed for his Country at this summers World Cup in Russia.

Mina only joined Barcelona from Brazilian side Palmeiras last January for £11.8 million, but he has struggled to dislodge Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti at the heart of the Catalan side’s defence.

The La Liga Champions are reportedly prepared to let the 23-year-old leave the Nou Camp for £30 million, which is significantly less than the £65 million United were expected to have to pay for Maguire, and around about the same figure they are expected to receive from Everton for fellow centre-back Marcos Rojo.
