Report: Mourinho retains backing of Manchester United board

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho retains the full support of his clubs board despite their disastrous 3-2 defeat to Brighton yesterday, according to reports.

So dismal were Mourinho’s men during their loss at the Amex that many predicted it could be the beginning of the end for the Portuguese coaches tenure as Manchester United boss.

However, the Guardian is reporting that the Old Trafford clubs board remain supportive of their manager and are sympathetic to the fact that he has had to start this campaign without many of his first-team squad being fully fit due to their involvement at the World Cup in Russia this summer.

However, this is also the same board who very publicly failed to back their manager in the transfer market this summer, despite last season handing him a contract extension until 2020.

United’s next Premier League fixture is against Spurs next Monday, with many predicting that it is a must-win game for Mourinho.
