Manchester United are ready to launch a £50m bid for Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes.
The Portugal international has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford throughout the summer, although the Lisbon side haven’t yet received any official approaches for the in-demand midfielder.
Fernandes has emerged as one of the most coveted attacking midfielders in Europe following a prolific season for Sporting, the 24-year-old having scored 32 goals in all competitions last season before helping Portugal to Nations League success this summer.
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified Fernandes as a key target as he bids to strengthen his midfield options, with the Independent reporting that the club ready to firm up their interest by making what they describe as a ‘concrete’ offer.
It is claimed that they with lodge a bid in the region of £50m for the former Udinese player, with United said to be confident that they will be able to secure the deal.
Solskjaer is reported to be desperate to bolster his midfield this summer, having seen Ander Herrera depart for Paris Saint-Germain and long-term doubts surrounding the future of Paul Pogba.
However, the deal to sign Fernandes is not thought to be dependent on Pogba leaving, with Solskjaer also monitoring Newcastle’s Sean Longstaff as he bids to strengthen his squad ahead of the new campaign.
