Report: Manchester United favourites to sign wantaway Griezmann

Manchester United have emerged as the favourites to sign wantaway Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann.

According to Spanish outlet Sport the French World Cup winner wants to leave Atletico, having only announced his intention to stay at the club a matter of months ago amidst strong interest from Barcelona.

The 27-year-old appears to have grown frustrated with his side’s inability to compete for major honours, with Diego Simeone’s side ten points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona and having been knocked out of the Champions League by a Cristiano Ronaldo inspired Juventus.

According to the Manchester Evening News United head the queue to secure Griezmann, where the forward could link up with international teammates Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial.

United will face stiff competition for the Frenchman, with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain also monitoring Griezmann’s situation.

Barcelona could also revive their interest, with the Spanish champions believed to be in the market this summer for a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez.
