Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey in a cut-price January deal according to reports.
Ramsey looks set to become the latest Arsenal star to head out of the Emirates exit door after the club retracted their contract offer to the Welsh midfielder.
The Gunners had been looking to tie the 27-year-old down to a new long-term contract, but have so far been unable to come to an agreement regarding personal terms, and have now withdrawn their offer, opening up the possibility of him leaving for free next summer.
However, according to the London Evening Standard, Liverpool and Manchester United are hoping to do a deal this January, with Arsenal looking to raise funds to continue Unai Emery’s squad rebuilding project in North London, with Ramsey potentially being available for around £25 million due to the fact his contract will only have six months left to run by the time the transfer window re-opens.
The report says that Liverpool are ‘the most likely candidates’ to sign Ramsey, with Jurgen Klopp having missed out on the signing of Nabil Fekir in the summer.
Manchester United on the other hand have brought in Brazilian midfielder Fred for £52 million this summer, but are still seemingly lacking attacking creativity as their early season struggles continue.
Arsenal have been linked with Porto’s Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera and Atlanta United’s Miguel Almiron.
