Report: De Gea wants Sanchez contract parity at Manchester United

David de Gea wants to become the best-paid player at Manchester United alongside Alexis Sanchez if he is to commit his future to the club, according to reports today.

The goalkeeper is widely regarded as one of the best in the world, and has consistently performed as such in a Manchester United jersey, where he has won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award at the club a record four times in the last five years.

The Spain number one is thought to be happy in Manchester and keen to extend his eight year stay at Old Trafford, and has been in talks regarding improved terms for a number of months, with an improved £350,000-a-week deal thought to be on the table.

However, he is yet to put pen to paper on a new long-term contract, and reports from the reliable folks over at The Telegraph say that the 28-year-old wants to be rewarded with a bumper pay increase which would see him earn a whopping £500,000-a-week, the same as the clubs current top earner Alexis Sanchez, who has scored just five goals for the club since moving from Arsenal 13 months ago.

De Gea has less than 18 months left to run on his deal after United triggered a one year contract extension clause back in November, and his situation is being monitored by some of Europes biggest clubs, including Juventus, PSG and Real Madrid, who have been less than impressed by Thibaut Courtois since he moved to the Spanish capital last summer from Chelsea.

Real Madrid, of course, came within a whisker of landing De Gea back in 2015, but were denied his signature when the paperwork wasn’t submitted in time, a move which would have seen Keylor Navas move in the opposite direction.
