Real Madrid are scheduled to take on city neighbours Atletico Madrid at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano this Sunday in their upcoming La Liga match, which will be their final league game before the season’s first international break.

Real Madrid have shown top-level resilience, bouncing back quickly from a surprising 1–0 La Liga loss to Real Betis on 4 September. José Mourinho’s side then produced three tough consecutive wins in all competitions. They beat Inter Milan 2–1 in the UEFA Champions League, followed that with a thorough 4–1 league victory over Rayo Vallecano, and then edged a 3–2 win against Elche to stay on track in their campaign.

Real Madrid team news

The visitors will certainly miss key figures in defence and attack, as Éder Militão, Rodrygo, and Ferland Mendy have all been confirmed unavailable due to muscle, knee, and hip injuries, respectively.

On a brighter note, midfielder Jude Bellingham has completely recovered from his recent problem and is expected to walk straight back into the starting XI to add creativity.

To deal with Atlético’s wing-backs, Mourinho is likely to tweak his setup by handing Denzel Dumfries the right-back role ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold, seeking more physicality and defensive solidity alongside Ibrahima Konaté and Dean Huijsen, while Kylian Mbappé leads the line up front.

Real Madrid predicted lineup

Possible Real Madrid starting XI: Courtois; Dumfries, Konate, Huijsen, Cucurella; Valverde, Tchouameni; Guler, Bellingham, Vinicius; Mbappe

When will the match kick off?

The match will kick off at 3:15pm BST on Sunday, 20th September.

How to watch Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid?

For fans in the United Kingdom, the Madrid derby will be shown live on Premier Sports 1.
