Real Madrid are planning an ambitious raid on the Premier League as part of plans to secure another dominant era in European football.

The Spanish giants have shortlisted a quartet of big-name Premier League players ahead of next summer’s transfer window.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side secured the high-profile signing of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer and will now turn their focus towards English football in a bid to build another Champions League conquering squad.

Trent Alexander-Arnold sits near the top of Real Madrid’s wish list and continues to be linked with a move to the Bernabeu. The right-back is out of contract at Liverpool at the end of the campaign and there has been no public progress on a deal.

Alexander-Arnold’s close friendship with England teammate and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has been suggested as potentially persuasive in tempting the 25-year-old to leave Anfield, as the Spaniards seek a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.

Real Madrid monitoring Manchester City fate

According to the Independent, Real Madrid are also prioritising the signing of Rodri from Manchester City. The 28-year-old was named Player of the Tournament as Spain won Euro 2024 in the summer and is understood to be open to returning to La Liga while still at his best.

Rodri has won four consecutive Premier League titles during a decorated career at the Etihad, though will be difficult to prise from the Citizens given his importance to the club.

However, Real Madrid are closely monitoring the result of City’s trial for breaching financial rules in the hope of capitalising on any punishment.

North London centre-backs on Real Madrid radar

Elsewhere, a new centre-back is on the agenda. Arsenal’s William Saliba and Tottenham Hotspur’s Cristian Romero are two of the leading options under consideration.

Real Madrid, alongside Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, reportedly made an approach for Romero this summer but saw their enquiry dismissed by the North London side.
