Real Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement on a new contract with 21-year-old forward Gonzalo García, cementing the academy product’s place in the first team following a breakout summer.

According to a report from Spanish outlet Marca, the terms of the new deal are finalised. An official announcement is expected shortly. The contract will facilitate García’s official registration as a senior player with La Liga, formalising his promotion from the club’s Castilla reserve team.

Influential transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano posted on X, confirming that the club “won’t listen to any loan or permanent deal proposals” for the player. He added that manager Xabi Alonso is “very happy” with his progress.

García’s new standing at the club comes after a series of impressive performances, most notably at the FIFA Club World Cup earlier this summer. He was a standout player for the Spanish giants during the tournament, scoring four goals and providing one assist in six appearances.

During Alonso’s debut season, García is expected to serve as the primary backup to star forward Kylian Mbappé. This move signals the club’s intent to develop its internal talent rather than seek further reinforcements.

Until his recent emergence, García was a peripheral figure in the senior squad, though he was highly regarded for his goalscoring record with Castilla. His most notable prior contribution was a late winning goal in a Copa del Rey quarter-final against Leganés last season. Garcia is reportedly set to be handed the number nine shirt, following Kylian Mbappe’s move to 10.
