Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has taken to social media to outline his disappointment at being left out of the shortlist for the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
Rodrygo was not included on the 30-player shortlist for the award that was unveiled on Wednesday evening, despite his role in a successful season for the Spanish giants.
The 23-year-old scored 21 goals in all competitions for Real Madrid and Brazil in 2023/24, with the former lifting both La Liga and the Champions League under Carlo Ancelotti.
Six of Rodrygo’s double-winning teammates, Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, Toni Kroos, Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger, and Federico Valverde were shortlisted for the honour, though the South American’s name was a notable omission.
He took to social media to express his disappointment, posting images of his triumphs last season.
The Brazilian also had a supporter in compatriot and national team teammate Neymar, who posted ‘Top 5 in the world, minimum. Superstar’ with an image of Rodrygo on his Instagram story.
