Real Madrid are still evaluating their options after losing Cristiano Ronaldo earlier this summer, and it appears that Raheem Sterling has been made a top target by Florentino Perez.
This is according to Sky Sports News, although they also say that no bid is likely to materialise before the closure of the European transfer window on Friday.
Club representatives from Madrid will be in the crowd for the England vs Spain match in the UEFA Nations League on September 8 to monitor the 23-year-old’s form further.
With two years remaining on Sterling’s contract with Manchester City, Los Blancos could be in with a good chance of securing their man, possibly in the January transfer window.
Last season Sterling won the Premier League title with Manchester City, which will only serve to hike up his transfer value. He scored 23 goals in 46 matches as the Cityzens went on to secure a record 100 points in the league.
Whether Real Madrid actually make an offer for Sterling soon is anyone’s guess, as they’re likely to have an abundance of transfer targets in an attempt to plug the gigantic gap left by Ronaldo’s departure.
