Real Madrid have made contact with the agent of Thibaut Courtois in the hope of signing the goalkeeper.
The 25-year-old has already opened contract talks with the Premier League champions regarding an extension to his current deal, which is worth around £100,000-a-week. He has already turned down the club’s opening offer.
He is believed to be keen to want to stay at Stamford Bridge, but wants to earn a wage similar to that of David de Gea at Manchester United.
Courtois’ agent, Christophe Henrotay, has admitted that Real Madrid have made contact regarding his clients signature. Speaking to Sport Magazine, Henrotay said:
“Obviously the biggest clubs are interested in Thibaut, and that includes the reigning European champions.
“He is a goalkeeper who wins you games, wins you trophies.
“I meet regularly with Real Madrid’s directors and Thibaut’s situation is evaluated. My role is to keep him informed of the situation.”
Could Courtois move to Real Madrid? Is it a ploy by the players agent to speed up contract talks? How do you think the situation will play out? Leave us a comment.
