Real Madrid identify new midfield targets after missing out on Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba’s move to Manchester United can almost be listed as inevitable, meaning for one of the first times in modern history, Real Madrid have been beaten to a signature of a World Class player.

However, the European Champions have wasted no time in reassessing their options and identifying midfielders that they will target this summer in the wake of their Pogba disappointment

Los Blancos have reportedly identified Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic as well as Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti.

Matic has seen his place in the heart of the Chelsea midfielder come under threat after the £30million arrival of N’Golo Kante from Leicester City and would be willing to leave Stamford Bridge, whilst PSGs Italian midfielder Verratti is one of the most highly rated midfielders in Europe.

However Zinedine Zidane will not face an easy ride if he wishes to sign either of the pair, as Juventus are also looking at the midfielders as they try to replace the Manchester bound midfielder.

Real Madrid have also been linked with Newcastle United’s Moussa Sissoko and PSGs Blaise Matuidi.
