Manchester United have been given encouragement by Real Madrid about a potential move for Gareth Bale according to reports in Spain.
Manchester United’s interest in Bale is no secret, with Jose Mourinho publicly praising the former Tottenham Hotspur winger. Zinedine Zidane has also publicly praised the player saying they have no intention to sell, but Madrid based newspaper Marca claim that in private, Real have given United encouragement.
The rise of Marco Asensio would relieve any pressure for Real Madrid to replace Bale. Asensio scored in both legs of the Super Copa win against Barcelona, as well as salvaging a point last weekend with two goals against Valencia.
Bale also played in that 2-2 draw against Valencia, a game in which the Welshman was booed by the home support. As if that isn’t hard enough to take for Bale, Marca then stuck the knife in with this damning article:
“He (Bale) is not only ineffective, he plays in another galaxy, he lives disconnected and it is not known for sure when you can count on him and when you can’t.
“There are times when it seems that Bale is going to start playing for the other side.
“There are five days for Madrid to solve it.
“To take advantage of the good press that Bale still has in the British Isles, to take advantage of the madness of a runaway market.”
United were linked yesterday with making a £92m offer for Bale, an offer which is reportedly under consideration by the Spanish Champions.
