Real Madrid face transfer market disappointment today after seeing a €65million bid rejected by Bayern Munich for David Alaba.

Reports in Spanish publication, AS, the European champions made the big money move to sign the Austrian last month, but have been told by the Bundesliga club that they do not want to sell Alaba, and only a bid of €80million would be enough to prise him away from the Allianz Arena.

Real Madrid made an initial offer of €50million earlier on in the summer, and followed that up with an improved offer of €65million that was lodged last month. However the German champions have taken their time to inform them of their decision to reject the offer, which was only done on Friday.

Alaba is not believed to want to force his way out of the club although it is believed that he would prefer to play in midfield, rather than as a left back where he has been utilised under Pep Guardiola.
