Ranking the five favourites to sign Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen looks likely to be one of the big movers of the summer transfer window with the Napoli forward interesting Europe’s elite clubs.

The leading scorer in Serie A as Napoli won a drought-breaking Scudetto in 2022-23, a disappointing title defence this time around saw the Italian side miss out on European qualification.

Osimhen appears set for an exit from the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona and has a release clause in his contract as the summer transfer window approaches.

For those interested in the latest football odds and new customer betting offers, we’ve looked at the five favourites to sign Victor Osimhen.

Real Madrid – 14/1

Real Madrid have been tentatively linked with signing Osimhen in recent months, as the Spaniards look to fill the void left by Karim Benzema’s exit last summer. Carlo Ancelotti’s side signed Joselu on a season-long loan from Espanyol and the veteran forward has been an astute stop-gap, scoring 18 goals in all competitions during the club’s La Liga title success and run to the Champions League final.

That said, an upgrade at number nine is required and Osimhen would fit the bill. However, the imminent arrival of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain looks likely to end potential interest from the Bernabeu.

Manchester United – 9/1

Manchester United are expected to enter the market for a centre-forward in the summer as the Red Devils look to ease the burden on Rasmus Hojlund.

The Denmark international arrived from Atalanta in a £72m deal last summer and has scored 16 goals in all competitions during an encouraging first season, though has lacked competition and cover with Anthony Martial absent for much of the campaign.

Martial will leave Manchester United when his contract expires on June 30 and another option at number nine will be sought. United, however, will be keen to ensure any new addition does not stunt the progress of Hojlund at Old Trafford.

Arsenal – 8/1

Arsenal ended the campaign as runners-up in the Premier League for the second straight season and a prolific goalscorer is being cited as the requirement to take the next step.

Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah face uncertain futures after combining for just nine Premier League goals in 2023-24, with Kai Havertz preferred at centre-forward across the run-in.

The German produced the best numbers of his career this season, but Arsenal could look to sign a more recognised penalty-box presence in their bid to end Manchester City’s Iron Grip on the Premier League.

With a record of 76 goals in 132 games for Napoli in all competitions, Osimhen could represent the solution to their forward failings.

Paris Saint-Germain – 3/1

Paris Saint-Germain will look to fix a Kylian Mbappe-sized hole in their side this summer.

The club’s record scorer is leaving the Parc des Princes after seven prolific seasons with PSG, in which Mbappe has scored 256 goals and won Ligue 1’s leading scorer accolade in six straight seasons.

PSG face the almost impossible task of replacing arguably world football’s finest talent, though Osimhen is among the few forwards capable of doing so. Mobile, athletic and prolific, with prior experience in Ligue 1 from his time at Lille, he has all the attributes to step into Mbappe’s shoes.

Chelsea – 3/1

Chelsea are joint favourites to sign Osimhen and past comments have suggested Osimhen would be receptive to interest from West London.

The 25-year-old has called playing in the Premier League his ‘dream’, while Osimhen has been open in his admiration for Chelsea icon Didier Drogba.

Nicolas Jackson has led the line for Chelsea this season and 14 league goals in his debut season is an impressive return, but one that has come alongside some wayward finishing. The 22-year-old is a work in progress and the arrival of Osimhen could help alleviate the pressure on the Senegalese striker.

With Cole Palmer excelling and Christopher Nkunku hoping to bounce back from an injury-wrecked first season with the Blues, Chelsea’s options in the final third could suddenly look formidable with the signing of Osimhen.
