Claudio Ranieri announced his return to the Premier League with a 3-2 win for his Fulham side over Southampton on Saturday.
Ranieri was very happy with his side’s performance in a thrilling encounter for his first game at Craven Cottage.
“I am very pleased. First match and first victory. It is a little step but an important step for everybody. It was important we made a good solution and good mistakes. We had to work hard. It could have been more for us or for them,” Ranieri told Sky Sports.
The former Chelsea and Leicester manager, who replaced Slavisa Jokanovic during the international break, was pleased with the fighting spirit Fulham showed as they came from a goal behind to claim all three points.
“When we went down I said I wanted to see how we created and that was very good. Amazing. It is OK. This is the spirit that I like. I like what they did but, of course, we have to work more and more.”
That win moves Fulham off the bottom of the league table and above Huddersfield, at least until the Terriers play Wolves on Sunday.
