Claudio Ranieri has thanked Eden Hazard for scoring the goal that won Leicester the Premier League title back in 2016.
Ranieri masterminded one of the greatest footballing stories in the history of English football, steering Leicester City from relegation candidates to the summit of the Premier League despite the incredible 5000-1 odds against him.
That title win earned himself Saint-like status in the East Midlands, and their status as champions was confirmed when Chelsea‘s Eden Hazard scored the crucial goal in what was dubbed ‘The Battle at the Bridge’ as the Blues held Tottenham to a 2-2 draw to end their title challenge.
As Claudio Ranieri prepares to take his Fulham side to his former stomping ground today, he has thanked the Blues number 10 for his part in making him a Premier League champion.
“It’s special because I came in England by Chelsea and made four years there,” Ranieri told the media.
“It was fantastic years and also Hazard scored a great goal for Leicester, thank you Eden.”
