Rangers welcome Aberdeen to Ibrox for Tuesday evening’s Scottish Premiership encounter, as the home team seeks to build on their recent revival led by Danny Rohl.

The Light Blues have hit a strong vein of results lately and aim to narrow the distance to table-topping Hearts.

The 2025-26 season began shakily for Rangers with Russell Martin at the helm, but stability has returned markedly under Rohl’s guidance. The club has triumphed in nine of 12 Premiership outings since his appointment, with the most recent three victories in succession. Entering this matchup off the back of a confidence-boosting 3-1 Old Firm derby success against Celtic—which equalised points with their Glasgow foes and placed them six points behind unexpected frontrunners Hearts—the hosts boast a robust defence, shipping only 17 goals across 20 games to share the division’s second-stingiest backline with Hearts.

Rangers team news

Danny Rohl should stick largely with the lineup that delivered the Celtic triumph. No new knocks trouble the head coach post-weekend, though certain personnel stay absent. Bailey Rice, Derek Cornelius, Nedim Bajrami, and Oliver Antman remain out with ongoing injuries.

Nasser Djiga, the central defender, is also missing due to Africa Cup of Nations commitments. Souttar and Fernandez should hold the defensive line, while Mohamed Diomande—impressive as a substitute versus Celtic—might replace Thelo Aasgaard for midfield rotation under Rohl.

Rangers predicted lineup

Possible Rangers starting XI: Butland; Sterling, Souttar, Fernandez, Meghoma; Barron, Raskin, Diomande; Gassama, Chermiti, Moore.

When will the match kick off?

The match will kick off at 8pm BST on Tuesday, 6th January.
