Aaron Ramsey has said that he is still awaiting an explanation as to why Arsenal retracted their offer of a new deal.
The Welshman was in talks with Arsenal to extend his stay at the Emirates, and he has said that he ‘was ready to sign’ the deal that the club had put on the table.
However, that offer was unexpectedly retracted a few weeks ago, and with the 27-year-old out of contract at the end of the season, he looks set to leave on a free next summer or on the cheap in January.
He has now revealed that he hasn’t even been offered an explanation as to why the club decided to end negotiations:
“Hopefully somebody will come up and tell me why,” Ramsey told the London Evening Standard.
“I’ll accept that if there’s a reason. When the time is right, I probably will find out but that hasn’t happened yet.
“There is no contract on the table at the moment so there is nothing for me to consider or whatever. We all know that the contract was taken away off the table. I’m not sure exactly why because a few weeks before we sort of agreed and I was ready to sign.”
