Aaron Ramsey has said that he is still aiming to achieve something special with Arsenal, despite him looking ever likely to leave in the coming months.
Having spent a decade at Arsenal, the Wales international was in talks regarding a new and improved deal to extend his stay at the club, only to see the offer retracted by the club in recent weeks.
Ramsey’s agent has already confirmed that his client has ‘no other option’ but to leave the Emirates in the coming months, and now the player has offered further insight into the situation while also insisting that he will continue to do his best:
“Everything has been going great with the club,” he told The Guardian.
“We thought we were in a position where we had agreed a deal but that’s no longer the case. So I just have to carry on playing my football and do my best for Arsenal this season and I’ll leave the rest with the club now.
“Am I disappointed? That’s a decision that they have made and things happen in football and you just have to get on with it and carry on playing the best I can. That’s all I am concentrating on and giving my best for Arsenal.
“Would I stay for the rest of the season? Of course, yeah. I am contracted to Arsenal and I am going to do my best now this season to try and achieve something special.”
Ramsey has been linked with Manchester United and Liverpool, as well as a number of European teams.
