Chelsea were reportedly told they would have to pay Erling Haaland a staggering £820,000-a-week to sign the Borussia Dortmund forward this summer.
Haaland was a transfer target for the west London side as the club considered several centre-forward options, with the Norway international having emerged as one of the most sought-after talents in world football.

The 21-year-old has attracted attention from Europe’s elite after scoring 62 goals in just 63 games for Dortmund, though Chelsea’s approach for Haaland allegedly resulted into extraordinary demands from the player’s representatives.
The Daily Mail are reporting that the demands of agent Mino Raiola included a record-breaking contract of £820,000-a-week, alongside an agent’s fee of £34m and a salary for Raiola himself.
The total package demanded is understood to be worth £275m across five years, with Chelsea instead turning their attentions to Romelu Lukaku and securing the Belgium international from Inter Milan in a £97.5m deal.
Haaland is set to be centre of a transfer tug-of-war between European football’s leading clubs next summer, when a release clause of €75m (£64m) becomes active in his contract at the Westfalenstadion.
The Mail claim that Manchester United are now leading the race for his signature, with Raiola having overseen the transfers of Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Old Trafford in recent seasons.
Haaland also previously worked under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Norwegian side Molde and the Red Devils are understood to have expressed an interest in signing the forward prior to his move to Dortmund in January 2020.
