Qatar XI vs Bosnia – Predicted lineup and team news

Qatar head to Lumen Field in Seattle this evening, needing to produce one of their most complete performances in recent memory simply to stay in the tournament.

Julen Lopetegui watched his side concede six goals against Canada last week, with two red cards reducing Qatar to nine men and turning a difficult evening into a humiliating one.

They have conceded a tournament-high 58 shots across their opening two matches — a statistic that underlines just how exposed their defensive structure has been. A win tonight would keep their knockout hopes alive; anything less ends their campaign entirely.

Qatar team news

Lopetegui faces a significant selection crisis with two key starters suspended. Left-back Homam Ahmed and midfielder Assim Madibo both saw red against Canada and will play no part tonight.

Sultan Al Brake is the favourite to fill the vacancy at left-back, with Boualem Khoukhi and Pedro Miguel continuing at centre-back. Ayoub Al Oui holds his position on the right. Mahmoud Abunada continues in goal.

Veteran Karim Boudiaf returns to midfield to cover for the suspended Madibo, joining Jassem Gaber and Issa Laye in the central three. The trio face the considerable task of keeping Bosnia’s midfield at bay while providing enough of a platform for Qatar’s attack to function.

Akram Afif remains Qatar’s primary creative threat and their most dangerous outlet from set pieces. Edmilson Junior continues in his wide role, still searching for his first goal of the tournament. Yusuf Abdurisag is expected to lead the line, with Almoez Ali likely among the options from the bench.
