Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis has heaped praise on his managerial counterpart this weekend, as he has praised the quality of Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray.
Boro face off against Blackburn this weekend in the Championship, and are six points clear of their opponents ahead of today’s clash.
But former Stoke boss Pulis has insisted that Mowbray deserves more credit for what he has achieved.
“Blackburn have got a good manager, and a smashing fella,” Pulis said in his pre-match press conference.
“I know Tony quite well, especially from his time at West Brom when I was at Stoke. He’s done good jobs wherever he’s gone.
“That includes here at Middlesbrough, and I don’t think he got the credit he deserved. He took over in very difficult circumstances, he had to pick up the pieces and worked tremendously hard to clear out the mess and put the club back on course.
“He’s settled well at Blackburn now and has had the opportunity that he’s wanted, and brought in some good players. He’s a good football man and it will be nice to see him.”
The two sides face off today at the Riverside Stadium, as Pulis’ men seek to close the gap to the top of the table, as Blackburn travel for the 3pm kick off.
