Claude Puel has insisted that Kasper Schmeichel is happy at Leicester City, despite comments from Premier League legend Peter Schmeichel about his son.
The former Manchester United ‘keeper recently told reporters that his son ‘wants to move away and try something bigger,’ although the Leicester City boss has insisted that the Denmark international is happy at the King Power Stadium.
“I had a discussion with Kasper, not just about this but different things. He is happy to play with Leicester, he extended his contract a few months ago,” Puel said in his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.
“He understands the project and what we are trying to put in place.
“He is happy with Leicester and this is the most important thing.”
However, Puel refused to be drawn on Peter Schmeichel’s comments that said the Foxes ‘just don’t have the manager who can get the best out of the players’.
“I don’t want to make comments about people outside the club, it’s not my concern, I have a lot of respect for his career,” the Frenchman added.
“After, I don’t know Peter. I don’t want to make other comments about this.”
