PSG vs Monaco – Match preview and team news

PSG and AS Monaco lock horns at the Parc des Princes on Friday evening in a Ligue 1 encounter.

The defending champions look to extend their lead at the top of the table, while Monaco aim to strengthen their European qualification hopes.

The two sides have already faced each other twice in February in thrilling Champions League playoff encounters, with PSG emerging victorious 5-4 on aggregate to secure their place in the Round of 16.

  • Kick-off: 7:45pm BST.

PSG team news

Quentin Ndjantou remains unavailable after undergoing thigh surgery and will not play again for several weeks.

Joao Neves and Fabian Ruiz are both not ready to play as they are recovering from their respective injuries.

Senny Mayulu and Ousmane Dembele are also doubtful though they have participated in training this week and might be involved in the match in some way.

Desire Doue is set to return to the starting lineup if Dembele is not involved.

Monaco team news

Takumi Minamino remains out with torn knee ligaments until August, while Mohammed Salisu is sidelined with a knee injury.

Lukas Hradecky (Knee), Eric Dier (calf), Kreppin Diatta (muscle), and Kassoum Ouattara are also confirmed absentees.

Paul Pogba is also sidelined but he is expected to come back to training in a couple of weeks.

Folarin Balogun, who scored four goals in their last four games, is set to lead the line for Monaco and continue his recent good form.

Form

PSG

Luis Enrique’s side has been in excellent form domestically, winning nine of their last ten Ligue 1 matches to establish a four-point lead at the top of the table.

Their most recent league outing saw Bradley Barcola score the only goal in a 1-0 victory at Le Havre on February 28. PSG’s home form has been particularly impressive, with 10 wins in 11 matches and only 4 goals conceded at the Parc des Princes this season.

Monaco

Monaco have rediscovered their form at precisely the right time, enjoying a strong recent run in Ligue 1.

The Monegasques are unbeaten in six league matches (W4, D2) after enduring a difficult spell earlier in the season. Their most recent performance saw them defeat Angers 2-0 at home on February 28.

Predicted lineups

PSG: Safonov; Hakimi, Zabarnyi, Pacho, Mendes; Zaire-Emery, Vitinha, Fernandez; Doue, Ramos, Barcola.

Monaco: Kohn; Kehrer, Zakaria, Faes; Vanderson, Teze, Camara, Henrique; Akliouche, Golovin; Balogun.
