Paris Saint-Germain are preparing an €80million (£70m) bid for Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho according to reports in France.
The French club, who were pipped to the Ligue 1 title by Monaco last season, are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of another title challenge this season, and have identified Coutinho as a potential target.
Le10 Sport claim that they are are already preparing to make a club record offer for the Brazilian, who was once again one of Liverpool’s stand out performers last season. He scored 13 goals and provided eight assists for the Reds as they fought their way back into the top four to qualify for the Champions League, where they must face two qualification games before reaching the group stages.
PSG are interested in signing a new attacking player and have been linked with moves for Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe. However with Ronaldo set to stay in the Spanish capital, and Mbappe either likely to join him or stay at Monaco, they are willing to make their move for the Liverpool star.
Coutinho has already attracted attention from Spanish giants Barcelona, who could yet follow up their interest by making a formal move of their own.
The Brazilian, while being open to a move to Barcelona, is thought to be very happy on Merseyside and is very willing to stay at the club for the foreseeable future. Whether a lucrative financial package can lure him away is yet to be seen.
