Paris Saint-Germain are keen to sell Kylian Mbappe immediately following the forward’s declaration that he will not sign a new contract at the club.
Mbappe has informed PSG that he has no intention of renewing his deal at the Parc des Princes, which is set to expire next summer. PSG are not prepared to lose Mbappe on a free transfer and will push ahead with plans to sell the France captain immediately.
Real Madrid are long-term admirers of the 24-year-old and have made approaches to sign Mbappe in each of the last two transfer windows, though the Spanish side’s president, Florentino Perez, has distanced the club from a move in the current window.
However, the departure of Karim Benzema to Saudi Arabian Club Al-Ittihad and Mbappe’s availability could lead to a rethink at the Bernabeu.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that PSG’s stance is to sell Mbappe immediately, with the club offering the forward an ultimatum to renew his deal or leave this summer.
PSG’s desire to sell Mbappe could alert Premier League clubs, though it remains to be seen whether any English side would sanction a deal that would cost in excess of £150m.
Mbappe is PSG’s all-time record goalscorer and has scored 212 goals in 260 appearances for the club. The 24-year-old has won five league titles with the Parisians and has finished as Ligue 1’s leading scorer in each of the past five campaigns.
