European giants circle for out-of-contract Liverpool star

Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are among the clubs interested in signing Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah on a free transfer next summer.

Salah is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and last week admitted there have been no talks over a potential extension at Anfield.

“Nobody in the club has talked to me about contracts. It is not up to me, it is up to the club,” Salah said to Sky Sports after scoring in the 3-0 win at Manchester United.

“As you know, it’s my last year in the club. I just want to enjoy it, I don’t want to think about it. I feel I’m free to play football and let’s see what’s going to happen next year.”

Salah has started the new season in electric form with three goals and three assists in three Premier League appearances for Liverpool.

The Egyptian has 214 goals in all competitions since arriving from Roma in 2017 and sits fifth on the club’s all-time list of leading scorers. However, Salah turned 32 in the summer and it remains to be seen whether the Reds will offer the winger an extension to his deal.

Salah could remain in Europe upon Liverpool exit

According to El Nacional, PSG and Juventus are among the clubs keen to sign Salah. It had been expected that Salah could move to the Saudi Pro League amid long-standing interest from Al-Ittihad, though he is understood to want to remain competing at the highest level.

The Saudi side made a £150m bid for Salah in 2023 and the Liverpool forward has regularly been discussed as a major target for the big-spending division.

A move to Juventus would offer Salah a return to Serie A, where he previously represented Fiorentina and Roma. PSG, meanwhile, can provide a route to silverware after dominating domestically in France across the last decade.

Salah is not the only big name out of contract at Liverpool this summer, with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold set to become free agents on June 30 as things stand.
