Premier League Transfer Rumour Mill: Olise eyes Old Trafford move

The January transfer window has underwhelmed so far, but could we see an increase in action in the final days before the deadline?

Here are the biggest Premier League transfer rumours from January 28.

Manchester United’s search for a wide talent who can actually contribute offensively has been more difficult than imagined. Jadon Sancho was shipped off back to Borussia Dortmund earlier this month, while Antony’s contribution to the campaign reads as zero goals and zero assists as we approach February.

For more than £150m worth of talent, that’s pretty pathetic.

The Red Devils reportedly want to sign Michael Olise in another attempt to get things right. The Frenchman is averaging a goal or assist every 112 minutes in the Premier League this season and prefers a move to Manchester over Chelsea. That’s according to football.london, who say the Crystal Palace winger will shun Stamford Bridge for a second time, after rejecting a move to Chelsea last summer.

There could be a domino effect for Premier League wide-men before Thursday’s deadline. L’Equipe report that Lyon remain keen to sign Arnaut Danjuma, currently on loan at Everton, and his exit could see the Toffees make a move for out-of-favour West Ham winger Said Benrahma, according to HITC. Should Benrahma move on, talkSPORT say West Ham like the look of Norwich starlet Jonathan Rowe.

Chelsea could allow Trevoh Chalobah to leave before the deadline. The defender has failed to make an appearance under Mauricio Pochettino this season amid injury problems, but is interesting several Premier League rivals. Football Insider say West Ham and Nottingham Forest are keen, with the latter having had a £25m bid rejected in the summer.

Forest also want to bring in a goalkeeper, with neither Matt Turner or Odysseas Vlachodimos having filled the void left by Keylor Navas last summer. Sky Germany claim Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will be rebuffed in approaches to sign Péter Gulácsi on loan from Leipzig.

Finally, there’s Premier League interest in Birmingham midfielder Jordan James. The Blues rejected an approach from Atalanta for the 19-year-old earlier this month, but now face a fight to keep the teenager with Fabrizio Romano revealing that Crystal Palace and Wolves are circling.
