Premier League Transfer Rumour Mill: Jordan Henderson to Chelsea!?

Sunday’s speculation has thrown up some incredible Premier League transfer rumours. Here is the best of the media murmurs from January 7.

Jordan Henderson is understood to be the latest big name keen to quit the Saudi Pro League. Just six months after damaging his reputation and alienating alliances with the moral own goal of a move to the Middle East, the former Liverpool captain wants a Premier League return with his tail between his legs.

Chelsea – in a desperate search of experience – Celtic and Newcastle are among the clubs considering a move for the 32-year-old, according to football.london, with Henderson having admitted privately the move was a ‘huge mistake’. It didn’t take Sherlock Holmes to work that one out.

The report also claims Henderson’s arrival at Chelsea could pave the way for Conor Gallagher’s switch to Spurs. It appears the West Londoners want to swap the all-action energy of their current stand-in captain for the ageing legs of another box-to-box England midfielder.

Wolves want to sign a striker with Hwang Hee-chan in Asian Cup action and Saลกa Kalajdลพiฤ‡ heading on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt for the remainder of the campaign. The Telegraph claim West Ham’s Danny Ings is viewed as a stop-gap loan option, after scoring just twice in 26 games during a disappointing spell at the Hammers.

The Star are reporting that Manchester United could look to use Aaron Wan-Bissaka as a sweetener in a deal to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace. The former came through the ranks at Palace, but has largely failed to live up to expectations at Old Trafford.

Another exit from Erik ten Hag’s squad looks set to be Hannibal Mejbri. Sevilla had looked set to win the race to sign the midfielder on loan, but Everton are looking to hijack that deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Elsewhere, Romano is reporting that the race for Liverpool midfielder Fabio Carvalho is heating up. The 21-year-old has been recalled from a loan spell at RB Leipzig after struggling for game time, with the Reds keen to ensure his next destination is rather more accommodating.

Wolves are in the race, while Southampton, Hull City and Leeds all pushing to sign Carvalho to aid their pushes for Premier League promotion.
