Premier League Transfer Rumour Mill: Arsenal baulk at ยฃ100m Toney

Another day, another host of Premier League transfer rumours as top-flight clubs scramble for signings in the January window.

Each day this month, we’re on hand to run through the latest rumours, so here are some of the biggest transfer murmurs from January 3rd.

Arsenal remain interested in signing a centre-forward with Ivan Toney top of the club’s wish-list. The Brentford bagsman is close to returning from his FA suspension for breaching gambling rules, with a list of clubs keen on signing the striker.

However, Football Transfers are reporting that Arsenal have ‘no intention’ of paying the ยฃ100m asking price, with the Gunners FFP wiggle room limited after splashing a club record fee on Declan Rice in the summer.

Meanwhile, a David Raya-style loan move is off the cards according to Football.London, with Premier League clubs only permitted to loan one player from a divisional rival per season.

Speaking of FFP complications in North London, Football Transfers also claim that Tottenham’s interest in Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is unlikely to evolve given their own budget restraints. A centre-back is top of Ange Postecoglou’s wanted list to reinforce his injury-hit side, with Romanian Radu Drฤƒguศ™in close to being parachuted in from Genoa.

Elsewhere, the New Year’s resolution for a bunch of England internationals might just be to play some actual football this season. Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips has suitors in Fulham and Crystal Palace, despite Newcastle cooling their interest, according to I Sport.

Exiled Manchester United man Jadon Sancho is being linked with a loan return to Dortmund by Fabrizio Romano, following his festering feud with Erik ten Hag, while free agent Jesse Lingard could soon be ‘bringing vibes’ back to the Premier League at Everton, say talkSPORT.

Sheffield United want to sign Kasper Schmeichel and everyone’s favourite Stoke-on-Trent born Chile international Ben Brereton Diaz claim the Mail, and Liverpool fans should reportedly not get their hopes up over exciting additions this winter.

The Reds apparently don’t want to sign Fulham’s Joao Palhinha, Fluminense midfielder Andre, OR Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie despite strong links, according to Ben Jacobs.
