Our Premier League Team of the Week celebrates the weekend’s finest performers, featuring names from Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City and Bournemouth.
Goalkeeper: Senne Lammens – Manchester United
A solid debut for the big Belgian, who Manchester United hope can end their goalkeeping woes. Lammens got across to palm away Granit Xhaka’s fierce hit and did well to save from Chemsdine Talbi. In between, he barked out orders and did the basics brilliantly. It sounds simple, but it’s been rare from goalkeepers at Old Trafford of late.

Centre-back: Malick Thiaw – Newcastle United
Athletic and so comfortable in possession, Malick Thiaw has already won admirers at Newcastle. Alongside Sven Botman against Nottingham Forest, Thiaw won six defensive duels, completed 91% of his passes, and created one chance. He looks like a shrewd addition.
Centre-back: Ruben Dias – Manchester City
Led by example, as Manchester City earned a hard-fought win at Brentford. The Portugal defender has faced some criticism, but the Citizens are a more solid unit with him in the ranks. Barely gave Brentford a sniff, despite the threat of Kevin Schade’s pace.
Rúben Dias’ game by numbers vs. Brentford:
112 touches
92/95 accurate passes
12 passes into final third
7 duels won
5 clearances
4 interceptions
4 ball recoveriesRock solid. 💪 pic.twitter.com/vNoBEmiIG1

Centre-back: Ladislav Krejci – Wolves
Krejci appears to be an excellent signing for Wolves, continuing on from his September club Player of the Month form with a strong start to October. He oozed confidence on the ball against Brighton with raking distribution, and is defensively sound. The wait for a win goes on, but this was a step in the right direction for Wolves.
Midfield: Moises Caicedo – Chelsea
Gary Neville called Moises Caicedo ‘the best player on the pitch by a mile’ in Chelsea’s win over Liverpool and it’s difficult to disagree. The Ecuadorian was everywhere at Stamford Bridge in a battling performance capped with a ferocious strike to open the scoring. He’s evolving into a complete midfielder.
Moises Caicedo has scored more Premier League goals in the opening seven games of 2025/26 (3) than in the previous two seasons combined (2 in 73 games).

Midfield: Sandro Tonali – Newcastle United
Just drives Newcastle onwards. There are sections outside the North East yet to appreciate how good this man is. Tonali is a phenomenal footballer and typically covered almost every blade of grass in the club’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest. Bruno Guimaraes had the highlight moments, but Tonali was the best player on the pitch.
Midfield: Mason Mount – Manchester United
Proved why he’s a favourite of Ruben Amorim. Intelligent in the build-up, industrious out of possession, and tactically adept to adapt to a flexible – and much discussed – formation. Mount has had a tough time at Manchester United, but this was one of his better afternoons. Took the opener against Sunderland superbly.
Right-wing: Mohammed Kudus – Tottenham Hotspur
Spurs took a bit of a risk in signing Kudus after a ‘down’ season at West Ham, but the Ghanaian has made an immediate impact. Kudus was central to the club’s 2-1 win at Leeds, recording his fourth assist of the campaign after releasing Mathys Tel for the deflected opener. After Leeds levelled, Kudus found the perfect time for his maiden Spurs strike. Capitalising on a mistake, he came inside and fired in a low finish to seal the points.
Left-wing: Antoine Semenyo – Bournemouth
Just electric. Semenyo seems too quick, too strong, and too good for opposition full-backs right now and tormented Fulham on a fine night for Bournemouth. He scored twice and created the other in the Cherries’ 3-1 win, a victory that took Andoni Iraola’s side into the Champions League places.
Bournemouth lost some serious talent in the summer, but keeping Semenyo has been key.

Forward: Donyell Malen – Aston Villa
Despite flying in pre-season, Malen has had to bide his time at Aston Villa again this season. On just his second league start of the campaign, the Dutchman scored both goals to help Unai Emery’s side past Burnley.
Two quality finishes from a player who can help alleviate Villa’s goalscoring issues.

Forward: Erling Haaland – Manchester City
Nine league goals for the season and counting for Erling Haaland, who is unstoppable right now. The pace, power, and dexterity to fire an early winner at Brentford were typical of a centre-forward who is the complete goalscoring package. The Golden Boot is likely to be a one-horse one at this rate.
