Our Premier League Team of the Week is in, following the weekend’s action. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Brentford all feature in the XI.
Goalkeeper: Djordje Petrovic – Bournemouth
Earned a much-needed clean sheet as Bournemouth won at Wolves. The Serbian shot-stopper made seven saves at Molineux, including a point-blank save to deny Tolu Arokodare.
Centre-back: Kristoffer Ajer – Brentford
A brilliant Brentford performance keeps alive the club’s dream of European football. Despite Kevin Schade’s stupid red card before half-time, Brentford battled to a 1-0 win at Aston Villa, the club’s first-ever away win at Villa Park.
Kristoffer Ajer was magnificent for the Bees, blocking three shots and winning 100% of his aerial battles (3/3).

Centre-back: Ibrahima Konate – Liverpool
After a period of absence following the death of his father, there was an emotional Anfield return for Ibrahima Konate.
The Frenchman was excellent defensively with 10 clearances and got a deserved goal late on to seal the win. The outpouring of emotion that followed was one of the moments of the Premier League weekend.
Centre-back: Gabriel – Arsenal
A magnet as Leeds pumped balls into the box repeatedly, Gabriel met everything the home side had to throw at him at Elland Road.
The big Brazilian racked up 10 clearances and won 10 defensive duels in a dominant display. Put his body on the line to deny Dominic Calvert-Lewin shortly after half-time.
Midfield: Enzo Fernandez – Chelsea
Influential in Chelsea’s comeback win against West Ham. The Blues recovered from a dreadful opening period to keep alive their Champions League chase, with Fernandez central. He drove Liam Rosenior’s side forward and popped up late on for the dramatic winner.

It’s now eight Premier League goals for the season for Fernandez, just one short of the total he managed across his first two-and-a-half seasons with the club.
Midfield: Alex Scott – Bournemouth
Thomas Tuchel is clearly a fan of Alex Scott after giving the Bournemouth midfielder an England call-up in November, and more performances of this quality could see Scott gatecrash the World Cup squad.
He was the standout against Wolves, leading his Bournemouth teammates for possession won (9), duels won (8), and tackles (3), while slamming in the second goal at Molineux.
Midfield: Florian Wirtz – Liverpool
Those who were quick to write off Florian Wirtz at Liverpool might just be backtracking right now.
The German has bounced back from a tough transition to shine in recent weeks and was at the centre of Liverpool’s 4-1 win over Newcastle. A goal, assist, and ever-improving connection with Hugo Ekitike are all positive signs for Arne Slot.

Winger: Noni Madueke – Arsenal
Bukayo Saka’s late withdrawal saw Madueke handed an unexpected start at Leeds, and he duly delivered.
The Arsenal winger was untouchable at times at Elland Road and created the first two goals with two fantastic deliveries. Much was made about his fee in the summer, but Madueke has proven to be an astute addition.

Winger: Amad Diallo – Manchester United
Amad Diallo gave his all whenever at wing-back under Ruben Amorim, but he’s certainly enjoying a greater lease of life further forward in the new regime. The Ivorian covered every blade of grass in a real live wire performance against Fulham, giving Antonee Robinson a torrid time.
Should really have had at least one assist, with some wasteful finishing from his deliveries.
Forward: Dominic Solanke – Tottenham Hotspur
Led Spurs’ second-half fightback against Manchester City after a quiet first half. Solanke’s hustle helped force a controversial own goal from Marc Guehi, before a moment of magic from the forward saw him scorpion kick Spurs level.

Forward: Hugo Ekitike – Liverpool
Hugo Ekitike was one who got away for Newcastle in the summer as Liverpool landed the Frenchman from Eintracht Frankfurt. Ekitike has made an immediate impact and put his former suitors to the sword with an impressive brace this weekend.
There was more than the blonde hair that was reminiscent of Fernando Torres, as he strode forward and prodded past Nick Pope for his second goal. A thoroughly impressive debut season in the Premier League continues.
