Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez tried to force through a deadline day transfer to Manchester United according to a report to today.
Mahrez was one of the big stories on Deadline Day with the Algerian national team tweeting that the winger had been temporarily allowed to leave their international training camp to secure a transfer.
Rumours were that the winger had flown to Paris where he would be centrally located to secure a move to Arsenal, Chelsea or Barcelona, but as it transpired, no club made a significant move and the player remains a Leicester City player.
However, the Star on Sunday claim that Mahrez’s advisors were actually trying to secure a Deadline Day transfer to Manchester United.
United were known to be keen to sign a winger, with their interest in Ivan Perisic well publicised, but they were unable to come to an agreement with Inter Milan.
Mahrez’ advisors were keen to take advantage of that and hoped to secure their client a move to the Premier League leaders, but were unable to do so, with no club willing to meet Leicester’s £50m valuation.
