Paul Pogba has thanked the Juventus fans after he made his first return to Turin since his return to Manchester United.
As the draw for the 2018/19 Champions League was made, much was made of the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba would be returning to face their former clubs during the group stages.
Juventus and Ronaldo got the better Manchester United at Old Trafford two weeks ago when Paulo Dybala scored the only goal of the game upon Ronaldo’s second return.
Ronaldo managed to get onto the scoresheet this evening, scoring a sensational volley against his former side, but United were able to exact revenge, scoring two goals at the death to snatch a famous Champions League win in Pogba’s first return to the Allianz stadium.
Speaking after the game, Pogba said that while the three points was the most important thing, he was appreciative of the ‘very welcoming’ reception that he received from the Juve fans.
“Lovely we won. That was most important,” Pogba told BT Sport.
“The fans were very welcoming with me and I really appreciate that. We played against a good team, but the three points were most important.
“I celebrate for the goal, it was strange it touched a lot of people. We’ve been playing well together and until the end we’ve done very well. We had maybe an extra breath or power to push it at the end.”
Pogba of course made an £89 million move to Manchester United in 2016 having spent four years with the Italian giants.
