Pogba: I don’t deserve the Ballon d’Or

Paul Pogba has finally stopped believing his own hype and has said that he doesn’t deserve to win the Ballon d’Or this year, although he does think that one of his World Cup winning teammates should.

Pogba often struts around the field like he has already won everything that the game has to offer, and while he has just picked up a World Cup winners medal, and won a number of league titles in Italy, the Frenchman’s confidence often exceeds his achievements in the game so far.

However, just days after being one of 11 Premier League players to be nominated for this year’s Ballon d’Or award, it seems as though he has finally eaten a slice of humble pie, saying he doesnt deserve to win it, something I’m sure we can all agree on if you have watched him regularly in a Manchester United jersey.

He was an integral part of Didier Deschamps side that added the second star to Les Bleus shirt this summer, even scoring a fine goal in the final, but the 25-year-old feels that the prestigious Golden Ball should go to one of his French teammates:

“Whether it’s Grizou (Griezmann), Kylian (Mbappe) or Raph’ (Varane), they deserve it much more than me,” Pogba told AFP while on international duty.

“I can not designate one. But I hope with all my heart that this is one of the three.

“One of the four also because there is NG (N’Golo Kante). That’s all I hope for anyway, because there are many who deserve it. I do not put myself in.”
