Pochettino ‘very pleased’ as Spurs beat Arsenal in Carabao Cup quarter-final

Spurs got their revenge on bitter rivals Arsenal for their recent North London Derby defeat, by returning to the Emirates and comfortably beating the Gunners 2-0 tonight to progress to the semi-final of the Carabao Cup.

Two excellent finishes by in form duo Son Heung-min and Dele Alli saw Spurs run out deserved winners and regain bragging rights in North London.

Speaking after the game Mauricio Pochettino hailed his players fitness after a hectic recent fixture list.

“Arsenal could rest players in the Europa League because they had qualified but we couldn’t in the Champions League. The level of our fitness was fantastic.” Pochettino told Sky Sports.

The Spurs boss also claimed it is a fantastic achievement for his side to reach the semi-final stage and admitted that he is excited about their upcoming clash against another London rival Chelsea.

“A very difficult draw, another London derby. We have already played Watford, West Ham and Arsenal.’’ The Argentine coach added.

“We shall see, Chelsea are a great team but we are excited. To be in the semi-final is fantatsic for us.

“I am very pleased tonight. The most important thing was to play well and win the game. We deserved it. We kept a clean sheet here after a very busy period.”
