Pochettino on Chelsea: ‘We will succeed, you will see’

Mauricio Pochettino has reiterated his faith that Chelsea will succeed under his management, following a disappointing start to the campaign.

Despite huge investment once again last summer, Chelsea have won just five of their opening 16 Premier League games to sit 12th in the table.

The West Londoners have spent around £1bn on new players across the last three transfer windows, but their inexperienced squad has struggled for consistent results and performances.

Chelsea host relegation-battling Sheffield United in the Premier League this weekend, looking to avoid a third consecutive league defeat. Pochettino, however, has reiterated his faith in the project and is confident that success is round the corner.

“I think this project is so exciting. We knew it was going to be difficult,” Pochettino said at his pre-match press conference.

“Yes, it’s more difficult because of the circumstances, unexpected circumstances that you always plan to have but not a lot, how we are suffering after five, six months. But that is the challenge.

I think it’s a very good thing for us, even though I am so upset and feel really bad for sure we want to be in a different position. But that is the challenge, we are not going to give up. We are going to fight. We will succeed for sure, you will see.”
